Top opening eyeglass cases is sort of a “slang” term that is used to describe what the industry calls clamshells and flip tops. Clamshell eyeglass cases, just like the name implies, resembles a clam with the way it opens and closes. A flip top is somewhat tubular in shape and has an opening that “flips up” on one end where the eyeglasses can enter.
